Ultrasound Therapy

Ultrasound is a technique which uses sound for therapeutic benefit when treating injured muscles and joints. Ultrasound therapy helps to heal by stimulating the tissue underneath the skin's surface using very high frequency sound waves, at between 800,000 Hz and 2,000,000 Hz, which cannot be heard by human beings.

We apply this therapy using a tranducer or applicator placed on your skin. First, we place a gel on the skin around the affected area to reduce friction and help the ultrasonic waves to transmit effectively.

Ultrasound waves can penetrate deep beneath the skin, and can so target connective joint tissue, ligaments, tendons, fascia and scar tissue. We therefore use it as a highly effective treatment for sprains, muscle strains, tendonitis, joint inflammation, plantar fasciitis, metatarsalgia, facet irritation, impingement syndrome, bursitis, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis and scar tissue adhesion.
