And he did all the above in aid of a range of deserving charities, raising more than £6,000 by the time he finished it in February 2017.
The former soldier, who lives in Goole and is Fitness Co-ordinator at the Francis Scaithe gym in Pocklington, raised the funds for The Soldier’s Charity – Army Benevolent Fund, The Stroke Association, Bowel Cancer UK, The British Lung Foundation and Scope.
Each of these worthy causes had special significance for him, related to his background in the Army or the fact they had helped his friends or family members.
Ivan’s challenge has been made up of marathons, iron-man challenges, smaller runs and gym-based sessions.
And the Hands That Heal team were instrumental in helping iron man Ivan to go the distance with regular, complimentary treatments.
Ivan’s motivation – apart from raising money for worthwhile causes – was the satisfaction of knowing he’d pushed himself further than the norm and done something special.
A family man, he wanted to be an inspiration to his daughters too. Amber is following in his Army footsteps and Mollie has played for the Doncaster Belles football team. Meanwhile, his third daughter Emma runs the occasional marathon with her dad.
